Our primary service, shearing your animals!

Alpacas/Llamas - We use the one-pulley restraint system. It may look a bit medieval, but it is surely the most efficient and kindest way to shear your alpacas. The ropes allow us to easily get your prime fiber (the blanket) off first and in one piece. We shear each blanket as if it were a show fleece, with minimal second cuts. After that, we go between seconds and thirds but sort the fiber as it comes off the animal for easy gathering.

Sheep/Goats - We use the traditional method of turning them over onto their butts and working through the shearing pattern. This ensures you get the entire fleece off in one piece, minus the belly, and with minimal second cuts! It's a bit like a dance between the sheep and the shearer.

During the shearing process, we will gladly trim hooves or nails. Proper hoof/nail maintenance is greatly appreciated by your animals. This service is only offered if we are also there for shearing. We kindly ask that you don't plan on trimming hooves/nails while we are shearing. This slows down our rhythm so we much prefer either doing it for you or having you wait until another time to do the trimming yourself. 

Sometimes those buckteeth need some attention! While the alpaca is down on the mat in the rope system we use, we can gently file their teeth down to make it easier for them to graze. 

Shearing day is a great time to get your vaccines done! We do not provide or sell any medications or vaccines, however we are more than happy to administer them for you if you are well prepared! If you promise to not prick us, you are more than welcome to administer them yourself while we shear. We kindly ask these are all prepped before we arrive.
